Ripping wav from mpeg movies

I downloaded yer lovely little app to help me rip the audio from a SVCD mpeg-2 video file to a wav file. The process seemed to work fine but the speed of the finished WAV was faster than the original which made it impossible to multiplex back into the video stream. Is there a specific codec I need or is there any way to change this?
