    still many crashes with R12

I am still experiencing many hangs/crashes. I have rebuilt my WinXP system to eliminate that as a potential issue.

This morning the system wasn't hung - but operated so sluggishly that I needed to reboot. Prior to rebooting I saw that MusicConterter was the #1 cpu process (while it was displaying "Finished".) I had 6 CoreConverter processes going - while I only have 2 cpus. Checking the file creation date/times I determined that the music conversion process had finished about 7 hours before.

What codecs were you encoding to/from?

I believe this is being investigated, as it has been mentioned before.

Does this happen if you encode to two dll-based codecs, such as FLAC to MP3?

Also, after you clicked "Finished" in the conversion window, did the CoreConverters close or remain open?

I don't know. All I'm trying to do is convert cd's/flac -> m4a. These crashs/hangs don't happen every time. I don't have endless time to experiment by executing long-running work-flows which are of no use to me, sorry.

Clicking "Finished" failed to get any response from the application or system. I was forced to reboot. The error log wasn't displayed even though the process generated errors.

If you do not have it yet I recommend 'Process Explorer' from www.sysinternals.com (they are now owned by Microsoft), that can show the processes in a true tree fashion (ie coreconverter might we waiting on say the nero encoder to finish).
