Now with a bit of playing around, EAC also works!
Sorry I can't see the drivers from 7 years ago being corrected (I understand the latest ones do not work with this Motherboard), so it looks like I'll have to put up with a slower machine regarding file transfer if I want to do good VBR mp3's of Cd's.

Thanks for the help over the last 6 months, not a total succes but it does now work! Perhaps I will one day be able to afford new hardware and the problems will go away, perhaps, or will new ones appear?
