Lots of Errors and Inaccurates - please assit

I've just tried using dbpowerAmp but don't seem to be having much luck. So far I've tried 5 discs with the following results
disc 1 - all rated 3 or 4 (what does this rating mean?) rips 3/14
disc 2 - all rated 5 star. 3/12 give accurate rip of 8 or 9, rest are inaccurate or errors. I run again and get 5/12
disc 3 - all rated 4 or 5 stars, but nothing rips. Everything Inaccurate.
disc 4 - no tracks are rated, 19/20 are accurate with an 8 or 7. Last track says Error and I can't get it working.

I'm using a new Sony laptop, with a Matshita DVD-Ram UJ-842S, ripping to FLAC, compression level 5. Ticked box to verify written audio.

    Please help, thanks

finally some luck with disc 5, which is probably one of my oldest and thus, most well-played discs! Tracks have a 3 or 3 1/2 rating, and 8/8 have accurate rip with a 6 or a 7.

Any ideas what I do from here? 1/5 discs is better than nothing, but pretty bad!

A value for Accuraterip over about 3 or so means your rip is accurate. Accurate with about 1 means either your rip or his rip could have errors.

The star ratings have nothing to do with quality of the cd, rather they are a preference you can change (ie audio players will play files with a higher rating more).

Thanks for the heads up on the star ratings, I will ignore them in future. However, how do I get better rips? My accurate rips so far are still very disappointing:
          Disc 1 - 3 out of 14
          Disc 2- 5 out of 12 accurrate
Disc 3- Everything inaccurate - I presume this is due to a different press
          Disc 4- 19 of 20 accurate
          Disc 5 - All accurrate.

So where do I go from here? How can I troubleshoot the ones showing "error" or "inaccurate". (Disc 1 is a brand new disc) TIA

If 3 out of 14 are accurate and the CD is new and unscratched, it is probably just a different pressing. If the same is true for 5 (unscratched), then it is probably also a different pressing.

Have you enabled the Secure Ripper (Options button)?
