dmc R12 and Samba Shares??

Not sure if dmc is supposed to work with files on network shares or not, so the answer to this question might just be "not supported". But here goes anyway.

I store all of my music on external disk hooked to a Linksys NSLU2. When I access this through Windows, I do so via UNC name (e.g. \\netshare\disk 1\) to get to the Samba share on the NAS.

I'm *not* in the habit of trying to convert or modify files (edit tags) directly on the share (i.e., copy them to local disk for modification), because most of the programs that I use for these tasks have problems with modifying files on the network shares.

But I have noticed that dmc R12 can't even show the popup tag info on these files when exploring on the share. When mousing over the files, no popup appears and in the bottom of the Explorer window is some message like "unable to find c:\Program Files\Illustrate\dbPoweramp\GetPopupInfo.exe".

GetPopupInfo has no problem running if the music files are on local disk.

So question is, should dbPowerAmp be able to work with files on network shares at all? Or is this just "not supported".

Correct, dMC does not support network shares. The only way I know of to get it to work is to mount the network share as a drive letter.

[Edit: BTW, doesn't seem to work even if the share is mapped to a drive letter. Maybe a Samba thing?]

The pop-ups don't work? It may just be a peculiarity of how windows accesses shared directories.
