    Deactivate Multi-CPU usage in Reference

    Hi,

first thanks for that great work on dBpoweramp.

I upgrade from Power Pack to Reference Version and I want to deactivate the Multi-CPU usage because I often convert in the background. The usage of both cores make my PC very slow.

Is there the possibility to work only on one cpu?

    Thanks, Steffen

Did you try to set the priority to below normal or idle?

Pauli does make a good point. Now, when your ripping a CD with Reference, the entire system bogs down. With the priority set to "Below Normal" it helps some, but the system is still sluggish.

If the priority is set ot below normal that is for the encoder only, the cd ripper needs normal priority otherwise it will not rip correctly, but saying that the cd ripping only uses 1 cpu when doing the ripping.

I have a similar problem. I have set CPU usage to idle but dbpoweramp seems to use all the cpu up. I can't listen to music in winamp at the same time as ripping as the music becomes distortedand freezes.

Having looked at cpu usage while ripping a cd it appears even when cpu is set to idle that quiteoften two processes of coreconvertor.exe are runnning swallowing all the cpu usage. Winamp can't seem to compete and starts to hang.

Perhaps your drivers config has reverted to PIO mode for the cdrom?

Using 100% of the CPU means no program with lower priority can use the CPU. Setting the priority to "below normal" should allow other programs to take some of the CPU from dMC.

                Thanks Teknojnky

Thats exactly what had happened - cd drives changing from dma to pio mode for some reason
. I've never come across that before but the article http://http://winhlp.com/WxDMA.htm showed me exactly how to get back to dma.
                Thanks

I too would like to see this as an option.
