dMC r12 wont copy music folders

I have just installed dbPowerAMP r12 to convert my wma lossless files into mp3 lame, from my external hard drive into one of my internal hard drives. However unlike r11.5, r12 will not copy the music folders they are in, it will only copy the tracks, leaving them without both an artist and album folder onmy internal drive. I've tried altering the settings as per 11.5 but this does not work. Is this simply a bug in the new release? Any feedback would be apprecited.

    Thanks,
    Anthony

Are you using the new Batch Converter which replaced File Selector?

With Batch Converter and anything except Reference, you have two choices: leave the files in the same directory or put all of the files in the same directory.
With Reference, you have an additional option called "dynamic naming".

Re: dMC r12 wont copy music folders

I am using the new batch converter. However whereas in 11.5 I could either select to convert as per the original source (with folders) or without folders from the file selector - on 12 it does not seem to make difference what option I choose convert all or convert all (exc subfolders).

        What is dynamic naming?

Dynamic naming is a feature in Reference where you can put files in a folder structure according to their tags (artist, album, etc).

Thanks. But i'm sure that there is a bug in the current version which is preventing me keeping the original format of conversions from WMA to LAME MP3. Has anyone else noticed this??

What do you mean "original format"? If you mean the file structure, there are three options. PowerPack and free users can put the converted files in their original folder or into one directory. Reference users can put the converted songs according to their tags using dynamic naming.

Re: dMC r12 wont copy music folders

Yes, I am refering to the file structure which instead of it going something like this:

                D: Album Artist > Album Name > Track 1
                Track 2
                Track 3
Album Artist > Album Name > Track 1
                Track 2 etc...........

No matter what options I select it is simply going:

                D: Track 1
                Track 2
                Track 3
                Track 1
                Track 2 etc............

I never used to have any problems in 11.5, but since I upgraded to 12 I cannot get this function to operate.

That check box was removed because it caused so much confusion, dynamic naming offers the same, set it to

                  [origpath]\[origfilename]

and a different drive or folder for output to 'folder'

That's a great feature I would not have figured out on my own. The only downside is that it recreates the entire path. I guess an easy workaround would be to temporarily move folders with the original files to the root folder or at least a lower branch on the directory tree.

If you have Reference, you can adjust the path as you want, using [artist], [album], etc.

I would want to keep the existing folder structure, just not the entire path.

                        Existing Path g:\media files\lossless\blues\a\luther allison\album name\*.flac

                        Intended New path h:\converted mp3\blues\....

In other words, I would want to eliminate the "\media files\lossless" portion of the existing path.

And since existing files may or may not be tagged, I wouldn't want to create a new path based on a non-existent tag. Not sure of a different workaround, other than moving the files around either before or after the conversion. After might actually be simpler. Hmmm.

I am presently using the Reference trial.

Look at the dMC help files installed on your computer. From the main help, go to the Batch Converter. At the bottom is a link to more help with naming. Go there and look at some of the options. As I am on a computer without dMC, I cannot look this up myself.

Yes you can remove the 1st and 2nd folder with naming.

Ahh, there's the option. Now, Spoon, can you do this:
                              Code:
                              [TRIMFIRSTFOLDER][TRIMFIRSTFOLDER][origpath][][]
? To me, it looks like this is what he needs to take out the first two folders.
