    Converting MP3 files to WMA

I am confused about converting to WMA files. How do you convert MP3 to WMA files that will work in Windows Media Player 9. It seems when I try to do it, I end with huge files.

It sounds like you are using the lossless codec.

What setting are you using to create the WMA files?

Change your "Windows Media 9 Lossless" to "Windows Media 9". You should have a bitrate drop-down selection and buttons for CBR and VBR. These files will work on anything that plays WMA files, including portable devices.

All I have is Windows Media Audio 9.2 for codec. And if I use that, the file is still larger than the MP3 file. I thought MWA are suppose to be smaller. The MP3 file is 4 to WMA file is 6.

Did you pick the same bitrate for the WMA file?

I meant the drop-down box below the codec selection, just above the CBR/VBR buttons.

As far as another Sound Editor, I have Roxio 9 which will convert MP3 to WMA very simply ; although, you can't select multiple files. You just have good quality and low quality but I was trying to use dB PowerAmp. It seems when you select WMA in dB PowerAmp, you cannot select a Birate, in the same way as MP3. All you have to choose from is CBR, VBR and 2 pass. Codec and settings. How do you select the birate?

Below where you select CBR/VBR are three drop down boxes: One for Quality/Bitrate, one for frequency, one for channels.
