In XP or 2000, you need to be logged on as Administrator.

Try ripping from 'Audio CD Input' program.

I get this error (from 'Audio CD Input'):

          CODEC decompression error for '\\CdRom\Track01.cda'
Unable to Rip track - make sure correct Ripping method is selected and CD Drive supports digital audio extraction.

I'm simply trying to rip this file to mp3 (or anyother format). I have mp3, wma, and wav codec's installed.

To follow-up on my previous post, I am using Windows 2000, and see from other posts that I may want to try ''NT/2000 Built in (Limited)".

I don't see an option for this in the software and I don't see another Windows 2000 version that I can download.

Exactly what is 'NT/2000 Built in (Limited)'?

              Too many guests

You can set that option (for Windows 2000) with Start >> Programs >> dBpowerAMP Music Converter >> Configuration >> dMC Audio CD Configuration

              It is under Communication.

The converter is failing to convert tracks on CD
Could you please provide some specifics.
Can you access the cd from Audio CD Input (do you see a listing of tracks in the Audio CD Input screen when you have the cd in the drive)?
Does Audio CD Input crash on startup?
If the answer to the first question is 'No" and/or if the answer to the second question is "Yes"-please see the Support page for this site here:

Follow the instructions for whatever version of Windows you are using.

If your problem lies elsewhere, please tell us what Windows version you are using, what version of dBpowerAMP Music Converter you are using, whether you can test convert your cd tracks ok (where you would specifiy say .wav or mp3 as the format you would convert to choose Test Conversion instead), and (assuming you can test convert the cd tracks ok) what format and settings (bits, bitrate, frequency, number of channels) you are trying to use for your conversion.

                    Good luck and best wishes,
                    Bill mikkelsen
