    r12 48k.wav to flac error

Hi. I've been using a registered version of r11.5 to make hi-rez flac backups of my 48khz 32bit.wav needledrops but since installing r12 I'm getting this

Error converting to FLAC, 'J:\temp\neneh.wav' to 'J:\temp\neneh.flac'
Error FLAC accepts only PCM audio source. [clEncoder::BeginConversion]

when I try to convert them.

Reverted to 11.5 and everything works fine. This was using r12 final, I got the same error with all the r12 alphas & betas too.

    Any idea what's up?

Re: r12 48k.wav to flac error

The FLAC encoder might be having a problem with the 32-bit, 48KHz file or dMC might have a problem reading your file. An easy way to check is to use dMC r12 to convert your WAV file to a 16-bit, 44.1KHz file. I realize this isn't what you want, but determining where the problem lies will better allow the problem to be fixed.

Your wave files must be floating point, previous R11.5 would silently convert to PCM, which was not technically lossless. Hence the error.

Install the Beta DSP effect pack and insert an effect which sets the bit depth to fixed point 32 and flac will be happy.

Re: r12 48k.wav to flac error

Thanks for the replies. The Beta dsp's did the trick when I set it to 24bit. Selecting 32 or 32bit float gave the same error as before but the flac files 11.5 would output were only 24bit anyway, so everything's good. :D

        Cheers
