Problem dealing with compressed aiff file

    Hello

I have some aiff files from a CM disk that dbpoweramp can't seem to deal with. When I look at the file details it says it is compressed (.6:1). The only thing I have that plays it is quicktime. I use Sonar DAW and audition yet they can't open it either. I've installed the aiff codec but it still can't handle the files. There are some uncompressed aiff files too that work fine but I can't figure why nothing works with the others. Any ideas what kind of format this is and how to deal with it? Is it some kind of new compressed aiff format from apple?

    Thanks

Where did your AIFF files come from?

Compressed aifc is really old, we just have not (because of demand) got around to implementing it, perhaps for R12s new aiff codec.

I got these files off a Computer Music Mag Disk (Issue #105). The file details seem strange to me since they say the compressed file is larger than the uncompressed file. Strange.
