v9 crashing win 2000 system on install

I just downloaded and attempted to install v9a on a win2000 pro system and it crashed as it seemed to finish installing. Tried it again, same thing. Tried to uninstall old version and it wouldn't do it. Now what? Help please and thanks.

If it has installed the files it will probabbly work ok.
