Winamp Library not reading APE tags

I've just downloaded the latest (3.99) Monkey's Audio codec for dBpowerAMP and ripped a CD. I've then gone to www.winamp.com and downloaded/installed the 5.3 player, and gone to www.monkeysaudio.com and downloaded/installed the 3.99 software - including the Winamp plug-in. I've then added the folder containing the .APE files to the library watch list in Winamp and rescanned.

The Winamp library shows the .ape files, but most of the tags are missing. Artist is blank, and Title is displaying the filename. Album is there, as is Time. Any idea what's gone wrong here? I was planning on ripping my CDs to APE rather than FLAC as the files are 10% smaller, but if I Winamp can't read the tags then I won't bother.

    Thanks for your help
    Kevin

Re: Winamp Library not reading APE tags

I just tried it with my system and Winamp reads my ape files just fine. Are you sure your APE files are tagged correctly? If you individually add a file to the playlist, do the tags show up?

In the dMC configuration set the ID Tagging to id3v2
