I can play cd but cannot rip it

I may be stupid. I downloaded the program and installed it and registered for it. But I can play the cd but cannot rip it to mp3. I checked FAQs. But the cd is regular cda files and not copy-protected. I keep getting "The output file ---.mp3' could not be opened." What could be the problem?

Can you convert to a different format besides mp3?
Does dMC Configuration show you as registered?
Does it do this with all of your CDs or just this particular one?

Thank you for your reply. It doesn't work for coversion to other files. It doesn't work for other cds either. I have registered and installed the full registered version.

I have a few questions:

Have you check the dMC Audio CD Configuration settings?
What version of windows are you using?
When you say that you can play the CD what application are you using?
When you use dMC Audio CD Input does it display the tracks on the CDs and have you tried a test rip?

I am using Windows XP. I can play cd with dMC Audio CD Input. It displays the tracks on the CDs OK. I didn't run a test rip before I plunged myself into buying this stuff. I checked the dMC Configuration, and it says Power Pack & mp3 license [registered yes].
Error message appears like, "The output file 'E:\70s(2)\Main Ingredient\Main Ingredient - Everybody Plays The Fool.mp3' could not be opened."

What is your E:\ drive? Is it a local hard drive or is it a network-mapped drive?

E:\ is an additional hard disc drive connected to my computer with a USB cable.

Try putting the output file on the internal HDD to see if it works, mabye?

Thank you. It worked! But when using an old version of dMC audio cd input, I could rip cds and feed music files into E:\ drive without any problems. Why do such a problem happen? Is there any way to directly feed ripped music files into E:\ drive without doing cut and paste?
