    I keep getting this error

I purchased dbpoweramp to convert mp3 to m4a and mp4 only. I had the trial version & it did that perfectly (downloaded from cnet). Now that I paid for it I cannot get it to work. I have been told to use the Nero codec which I have downloaded about 20 times and this thing is still giving me the following message. Please somebody give me STEP-By-STEP instructions on how to make this thing work. I am not a computer genius so please give me lots of details.

    error message:

The CODEC required to compress 'C:\Documents and Settings\Merissa Chung\Desktop\goodas ringer.m4a' could not be opened.
Unable to run encoder 'C:\Program Files\Illustrate\dbPowerAmp\compression\Nero Digital Audio (AAC)\neroAacEnc.exe'

Is the location it has for the encoder where it is actually located?

Re: I keep getting this error

I have gone to the website and downloaded their encoder but it is still not working. Please, please, please give me detailed instructions because I do not understand the instructions provided on this website. I have read the tutorials and the FAQ's and I have posted this same problem like 3 times before. Please help me!

to LtData: I do not know where it is located. How would I change the direction that it should download it from?

Listem I am no computer whiz. Please just KIS (keep it simple) for me. cause all this jargon is starting to make me very upset.

This codec relies on the Nero Digital AAC encoder, it can be downloaded only from Nero directly:

          Installation Instructions:

          1) download the Nero codec Zip package from:

Nero Platinum - Nero is the leading provider of premium software for the multimedia experience. We make burning, streaming, editing more convenient and easier. Start your free trial today!

          2) Open the zip file (by double clicking on it) and open the folder win32, select all files (press control + a) and copy them (Edit menu >> Copy). Open a new explorer window, it is important the old zip window is left open (press Windows Key + E) and browse to:

          C:\Program Files\Illustrate\dBpowerAMP\Compression\Nero Digital Audio (AAC)

In the above folder select (Edit menu >> Paste). After extracting the following files should be present in the above folder:

          Nero Bitmap Image
          neroAacDec Application
          neroAacEnc Application
          neroAacEnc_sse2 Application
          options Text Document
Use SSE2 Encoder MS-DOS Batch File

Finally if your computer has a Pentium 4 or AMD 64 bit or later processor double click the file Use SSE2 Encoder in the above folder to make use of faster encoding.
To tell dMC where the encoder is, you just click the "Locate Encoder" button and then select the "neroAacEnc.exe" file.

THIS WORKED!!!! Thank you for the step-by-step. Now one more question........Is there a way to shrink the file size & keep the file type as an m4A?
