xp pro x64 - and db poweramp??

xp pro x64 - and db poweramp??

previously i have been using db poweramp on x86 32 bit window,
    where everything was just great,

but recently i migrated over to the x64 64bit platform,
and now i have some small rather irritating issues

    1. db power amp is no longer found in the right click menu in explorer, in other words when i right click on a wave file in order to convert it to a mp3 file it no longer gives the option of "convert to" - so now i must find and start this manually, its very impractical

    2. when i let the mouse pointer move over a mp3 file it no loger reads the tag,
tag info nologer pops up as it did when i was using this program on x86..

    3. the edit oppurtunity for editing tags is also gone...

i have tried to use the dMC Configuration but that didn't work..

so i am wondering if anyone here know if there is a solution to this...
i would really like to have the full functionality of this fine program back...

    regards

Re: xp pro x64 - and db poweramp??

did some searching on this forum and found that r11.5 does not support x64 properly..
so i decided to give r12 alpha 5 a go

ok now the popup fuction works but the right click options are still dead,
so no "convert to" and no "edit tag"

crap... hope that r12 beta will arrive soon or final so that i can use this software again... because as it stands right now i have software that i cannot use for what i purchased it for... :headbang:

As it says on the page to download the alpha, it is being worked on. dMC r12 is, after all, a feature-incomplete alpha that is still in development. However, the final version of dMC r12 WILL support XP 64-bit in the way you describe. Until then, you will have to manually select the files via dMC or FileSelector.

Re: xp pro x64 - and db poweramp??

i find manually selecting files via dMC or FileSelector just too cumbersome
so i guess i will just have to be patient til an x64 supporting version of this fine software emerges,

and while waiting i will use mediamokeys tagging editor and wait for r12

i do understand that alpha means in development... and thus is not a finished product.
still i feel that it should be stated more clearly that r11.5 does not properly support x64 windows.. it would have saved a few hours of troubleshooting..

When you say stated more clearly, do you mean in a forum post in the FAQ section, or on the download page?

a sticky or a forum post in the FAQ would be nice,
but i also recommend a notice on the download page..

edit: because right now it says

"Fully compatible with Windows XP / 2000, etc" and it is as long as we are taking about 32bit windows, and it does work to a degree on 64bit, but without those lovely features.. like right click and pop up info

all in all i truly look forward til dbPoweramp is on good terms with 64bit windows, because i miss those features i have gotten so used to over the years ,
the right click feature really helps my productivity, while working in explorer for retagging mp3 files, and the possibility to quickly identifying a file without having to open it in any program..

thank you for taking interest and listening
            respectfully

R12 alpha should show 'Convert To' right clicking in 64 bit Windows (for the file types it supports, which are less the R11.5).

looks lovely LtData :D - wonderful work.. and thank you for looking after us on 64bits ;D

alas spoon.. i cannot get my r12alpha to show convert to when right-clicking an ordinary mp3 file..

but pop-up info started working on r12alpha though..

Do you have the "Convert To" option enabled in dMC Configuration

Re: xp pro x64 - and db poweramp??

yes, that is what bugs me, cause i have "convert to" enabled in dMC configuration...

hm "scrathcing my head" all options in the windows intergration is enabled.. still no "convert to"..

                      edit:
well spoon i did as suggested from your post:
dBpowerAMP Music Converter release 11.5 (the current version as of this writing) has some minor issues with the 64-bit version of Windows XP. The Popup Info won't show up and the "Convert To" and "Edit Tag" don't show up on right-click. This is a known issue. The only way to get these back is to upgrade

and found this link from microsoft on how to enable 32bit explorer
                      link: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/895561#appliesto

but alas, i start to feel cursed, still no damn luck, i uninstalled dMC before rebooting and reinstalled but still no right click "convert to" etc

the i reinstalled r12alpha5.. but still, no progress,
everything is still the way it was,
but atleast the popup info works with r12alpha5

jus' gotta remember to enjoy what there is to enjoy,
when banging my head into my 64bit wall

If you enable the 32 bit explorer you would need the 32 bit dbpoweramp (ie uninstall R12 and install 11.5).

I will look into convert to on Win64.

thats what i did do :shrugs: ,
in order to clear up any misunderstandings

                          1. i followed the instructions from microsoft, link: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/895561#appliesto

                          and enabled 32 bit explorer

then i uninstalled dbPoweramp and rebooted my pc,

                          then i installed 32bit r11.5,
but it still didn't work for me

so i updated to r12alpha5 so i could atleast have popup info working

so i could not get 11.5 working after enabling 32 bit windows..
i do not know why, if anyone has any tips i will gladly accept them

but if it is any consolation winrar's rightclick options does not work either

Maybe nothing works on the right click of a win32 enabled explorer. Go back to the 64 bit explorer and install R12, that is 64 bit and will work.
