I am having problems with converting original Mp3`s from a higher level of encoding to a lower level.
I.E 320kbps -> 128 kbps
More or less every time I have tried to re encode My PC crashes, as I haven't installed any new hardware and the only software this seems to be happening with on a regular basis is dB amp Music converter.
I have sent off a system event file to Microsoft, however no resolution to the issue.
Have had a look at my drivers and they all seem to be up to date including my bios.

Do`s any one have an idea, I am tempted to reformat and start a fresh!! :(

Is just dMC Crashing, or is your whole computer locking up? If your entire computer locks up when you are converting, you either have a problem with bad drivers or with your computer overheating.

If you convert in smaller batches, say 3-5 files at a time, does your computer overheat? What about one file at a time?

There is no bsod as such it just reboots and goes through post and into windows again, This is now happening with itunes when I try to rip a cd and will happen with any number of tracks.
Have tried working through troubleshooter via ms and have tried changing my video driver, however this hasn`t helped either.
There doesnt seem to be a temp probe on my mb or cpu. I will investigate further.......... :cry:

If you are using Windows XP, here is how to turn off automatic rebooting:
Go into the control panel and open up your System Properties. Click on the Advanced Tab and click the third settings button down. Uncheck "Automatically Restart" and click OK on both windows. Now, if your computer crashes, you should get a BSOD instead of just a reboot.
