If dbpoweramp is able to read to the end (when converting to mp3) then your audio player should be able to also. AFAIK there are no end point signals in m4a.

I can only say that both RealPlayer and my iPod fail to play the m4a track to the end, but that both play the MP3 derived from this 'faulty' m4a file to the end.

To me that means all the data is there in the m4a but that, somehow, the players are receiving an incorrect indication that the track has finished when it hasn't.

I can convert successfully to m4a using a different encoder (an old one), so that seems to suggest that there's a fault in the Nero encoder if dBpowerAMP doesn't add 'endpoints' to the files it produces. Do you agree with that conclusion?

      Q.

I know there is a disparity between m4a implementations (Apple seem not overly bothered that their players only like Apple iTunes created m4a files), m4a is a standards codec, so it is shame on these companies for not being flexible.

^ Thanks for your help. It seems I shall be sticking with mp3s for the moment.

I have had this same problem using Nero's recent public release, and caused me to quit using Nero aac as well. The problem track for me was "The Crunge" from Led Zeppelins "Houses of the Holy" the voice at the end that says "Where's that confounded bridge" gets cut off to "Where's that confou"
