Cannot convert Compressed Audio (Shorten) files to wav or mp3

Hello

I don't usually have any problem converting flac to wav but I'm getting this error message:

The CODEC required to decompress 'C:\MyMusic\NY 5-1-99 Chicago\Disc 1\Track01.flac' could not be opened.

I've downloaded dBpowerAMP-codec-flac.exe but this hasn't helped.

Can you play this FLAC file in any player? Have you tried a "Test Conversion (no write)" to make sure dMC can decode the file? What settings are you using for WAV? What are the specifications for the FLAC file?

Thank you for replying so soon. To answer your questions:
Not playable.
Test Conversion displays same error message.
16 Bit, 44100 Hz, 2 'Stereo'.
I'm not sure how you determine the specs; all I know at this stage is what I wrote in the heading to my query. I checked the Bit Torrent site that I d/l it from and nobody else appears to have had this problem.

Mabye you need to redownload it. If you can not play it, apparently your copy is corrupted.

I was unaware that flac files can be played. Which program can I play them with?

There is a plugin for Winamp that lets you play FLAC files.

I installed Flac Plugin for Winamp 2 and Winamp 5 but have another error message:
Error while processing metadata (FLAC FILE DECODER SEEKABLE STREAM DECODER ERROR).

It sounds like your FLAC file is definately corrupted. Try redownloading it.
