Hello all,
I have my mp3 LAME settings in dBpowerAMP set to Joint-Stereo. When I've ripped tracks, however, sometimes the tag says "Joint-Stereo (Mid-Side)" and other times it simply says "Joint Stereo". This happens even with different tracks from the same set in a batch conversion (I'm ripping from CD to WMA lossless and then to MP3 for various storage reasons).
My understanding is that there are two different things called "joint stereo": intensity stereo (generally bad) and mid-side (generally good). Does LAME alternate between one or the other? Is there a third type of which I am not aware?
Your insight is much appreciated.
For the record, I convert from WMA Lossless to MP3 VBR (112-160), High quality. It actually shows up as "Preset Extreme" in the tags, but the only preset I think I'm using is "High" in the options menu.
Thanks again.
Eric
