    wma to mp3 conversion......

Cannot seem to be able to convert wma's to mp3....even with the wma codec downloaded. Message pop-up indicated that these were necessary to be downloaded and installed in the same place as the music converter. I am on Win2k so downloaded the db-wmfdist-wma9.exe and also dBpowerAMP-codec-wmav9.exe and put them in C:\Program Files\Illustrate\dBpowerAMP and rebooted as instructed.....still get the same message indicating that a wma codec is required. Any help appreciated.

You should have two "windows Media Audio" choices in your drop-down menu. The greyed-out one is the Smart Install for WMA 9.1, as you have discovered. The black one is the one you want. I believe you can remove the Smart Install choice by going to the dBpowerAMP install directory while dMC is not open and opening the file called "dMC Smart Install.txt". Open the file, delete both lines for WMA, save and close the file. You should now only have one WMA choice.

      Re: wma to mp3 conversion......

Thanks for the reply....although now I am even more in the dark. You refer to a "drop-down" menu....and some choices I should have. Not sure what you are referring to I'm afraid. All I do is right-click on the appropriate .wma file and then select "convert to" and then the MP3 (lame) is selected in the "converting xxxx files" box. Then is when I get the "To support the audio type "Windows Media Audio" a codec must be installed, install this codec now?" and then directs me to the website where I am instructed to download these files as mentioned before. Not sure if this clarifies things somewhat....thanks

Ahh, your converting FROM wma TO mp3. My fault, I thought you were converting to wma. Check dMC Configuration to make sure the WMA codec was installed correctly. It would probably be a good idea to still follow my steps about removing the Smart Install for WMA 9.1.

dMC Configuration is in your Start menu --> Programs --> dBpowerAMP Music Converter --> Configuration --> dMC Configuration
