I'm glad whoever's reading this has taken time to click on this thread. Now I will tell you my life story.. err, i mean problem. I'm trying to compress + convert my binaural beats sound files into a format that can be played on IPod shuffle, without any quality loss. So far it has rejected *.m4a, *.flac, *.wv files (all Lossless). Any suggestions?

Re: Lossless conversion
Well, the iPod shuffle can't play .flac, or .wv so that was a bad start. I would have thought the Shuffle could play Lossless .m4a files though.
Have you tried just plain .mp3 files and see if those work? Or do these files *have* to be lossless? -
Re: Lossless conversion
I'm not sure what, if any lossless formats an ipod shuffle would play but if there arent any and it has to be lossless, try a music player that can play lossless files like flac or get one that can have rockbox installed on it www.rockbox.orgComment

Re: Lossless conversion
a) Rockbox does not work on iPod Shuffles currently. I don't think there are any development plans for that target either.
b) If anything, ALAC should work. But quite why you would use Lossless files on a target such as the Shuffle is beyond me.
Personally I would use the Nero AAC codec to produce compatible .m4a (LC-AAC) files, or the LAME codec. Either of these should work fine for the Shuffle and allow you to fit much more content on it.Comment
