Error Converting G711 A-Law wave files

I have some .wav files that are encoded in the G711 A-Law format, when I try to convert them to mp3 I get the following error:
The file 'C:\myfile.wav' could not be opened.
    ACM Codec Not Installed 'ALaw'

I don't get this error on all of the files, although all files have same encoding and the same tag information.

I can open all of the files with Media Player so I don't think that this is an issue with the file being corrupt.

Do I need to download a different codec?

    Thanks,
    Brooklyn

Try the new R12 alpha version (beta section this forum), to see if that can convert the files (to wave or mp3).
