THE NEW M4A CODEC IS CRAP. anyone got a download to the old one

the way the new codec enhancment is set up i am unable to change my files directly to m4a. it used to be that i could convert to a friendly file format of the kbps of my choosing, now theres a <edit> apple symbol and i cant control anything. any link or email in regard to where i can get the previous pack would be greatly appreciated.

i do not use itunes and will not by any means. im just looking for the easiest soloution here without installing apple product onto my computer.

If you are seeing an apple logo then you are using the wrong one use:

Nero Digital Audio (AAC)

It sounds like you picked Apple Lossless, not mp4/m4a.
Also, the Apple Lossless encoder does NOT need iTunes, nor does it install iTunes. It is iTunes-independent.

I tried the apple lossless and i tried the nero codec aswell. the nero did not function at all, the number simply climbed and after a healthy 3 minutes it told me it could not be done because :

"The CODEC required to compress 'C:\Converted Music\bt.m4a' could not be opened.
Unable to run encoder 'C:\Program Files\Illustrate\dbPowerAmp\compression\Nero Digital Audio (AAC)\neroAacEnc.exe' "

I use easy media creator, any idea where i can pick this file up

i went into one of spoons links and picked it up through there. so now i have it and the final test remains if i have a working product, i will post shortly.

Did you follow the help file for the m4a codec and download the nero encoder file? You have to have this file in order to encode.

it worked, extracted the files to my desktop and used the locate button in dbpa to get to it, worked without a hitch. so to get to m4a now you need the nero aac format instead of the apple format. the link i posted will take ya right to the approve deny page. so problem solved.
