Auxiliary Input - Stops Accepting Input After 4-5 Secs

This issue was resolved by changing settings back to defaults per the thread Auxiliary Input Stops Working".

Although I made the changes, I don't fully understand why I needed to. I was trying to record from tape to something less than CD quality... I could still use help understanding how to do that! :smile2:

I've been thrilled with my evaluation of dBpowerAMP for the first 12 hours or so. Using the mic as input, I've been able to record about 10 cassette tapes and convert them to MP3 at the same time.

But suddenly, three key functions have stopped working and I can't use the product. The problems seemed to happen in this order:

1 - The program stopped recognizing gaps in the music and breaking for new tracks.

2- The "Record" button on the "Recording" pop-up stopped responding. I can only "cancel" a recording, I can't break for a new recording.

3 - After 4-5 seconds of recording, the input reading on the VU drops to zero. However I can still hear the sound, and when I start the VU meter for "Testing Recording Level" it shows that the input volume is still good.

I haven't changed anything since my successful recordings. In fact, I hadn't even rebooted my PC when this first started happening.

I did reboot after the first two symptoms started -- at the same time. And that's when I started having the 3rd problem.

I've since de-installed and re-installed the software. I have the same problem.

Thanks for your help!! I'm looking forward to purchasing the product, if these issues can be resolved.

If you are trying to record multiple tracks at once, your best bet is to record to standard (16 bit, 2 channel, 44.1 kHz, PCM) Wave. Then convert your wave files to whatever other format and settings you desire.
This is more reliable because Auxilary Input does the conversion to WAVE much faster than it does to other formats and you run less risk of trouble arising from trying to record the next track while Auxilary input is finishing converting the previous track.

The alternative is to record a track at a time, in which case you could record directly to your format of choice (although I suspect that Auxilary Input first records to wave and then converts to other formats, at least for all practical purposes).

    Hope this answers your question.

    Best wishes,
    Bill
