I just can't get codecs installed, I guess

I get this message:
The CODEC required to decompress 'C:\Documents and Settings\chuck\Desktop\800001107.ra' could not be opened.
DirectShow filter for '.ra' not installed, or Audio File Corrupt.

I have read the install direction, download directs, codecs for real(pain) alternative, re-read, re-installed. etc.

I downloaded a .ra, changed .ram to ra, changed name.ra and still I get zilch.

I installed:

then I went to dmc config., I don't see real in installed on the 1st page, under "smart Install codecs", but the real codecs are listed under the installed decoders.

Plz direct me on how to get real file codecs working w/your progrm. Thank you in advance

Can you paste the contents of your dMC Configuration here? Use the "Copy to Clipboard" button to copy it and then simply paste it into a new message in this thread.

What size is your .ra file? If it is a few KB, then it is probably just a meta-file. See here for more information: http://forum.dbpoweramp.com/showthread.php?t=6194

Well, the .ra were not audio files. I dragged on .ra file onto noter pad and read a text message. The file are about 4kb. I'll search around for a "real" Real file.

Tried a 2.12 mb file and get this error:
The CODEC required to decompress 'C:\Documents and Settings\chuck\Desktop\12.ra' could not be opened.
Unable to insert SampleGrabber.
