FLAC>AIFF ... How can I preserve tag info?

When I convert FLAC files to AIFF (or vice versa) all tagged information is lost. However, if I convert FLAC to Apple Lossless (using the itunesencode codec) and then use iTunes to convert that to AIFF, the info comes through. Is there any way to convert directly to AIFF and presever the tagged info.

I've noticed that iTunes is the only player I have that is able to read AIFF tags. Is there something proprietary in these tags that only iTunes can create and read?

Alternately, is there any way to edit the command line input when using itunesencode so that it calls up the AIFF encoder instead of Apple Lossless? I know you can do this when using the itunesencode.exe with EAC so that it automaticlly adds the FreeDB tag info to the resulting AIFF files.

    Thanks.

AIFF tagging is not very popular as you have found out, very little supports it.
