    Re: codec ogg

You have Ogg files you are trying to convert to mp3.
Make sure you have the standard Ogg encoder installed (available from Codec Central here:http://www.dbpoweramp.com/codec-central-ogg.htm, the first codec). This is the only one of the available Ogg codecs that will read (or decode) Ogg files.

If you believe you have this codec installed, check your dMC Configuration (Start>All Programs>dBpowerAMP Music Converter>dBpowerAMP Music Converter Configuration) and make sure that Ogg is listed among your installed decoder codecs. If it is not, you may have installed the codec to the wrong location, especially if you did not install dMC to the default location when you installed it.

Also, to convert your files to mp3 you need the mp3 codec and this is part of the Power Pack. So make sure you have either an active trial version of the Power Pack or a registered version of the Power Pack (this can also be confirmed in the dMC Configuration page).

If everything seems OK with both the mp3 and Ogg codecs, try a test conversion of your Ogg files. This is done the same as you would for a regular conversion except that where you select .mp3 as your output format, select "Test Conversion (No Write)." This will not create an output file but you will see a conversion bar and this will tell you very quickly whether dMC can read the(se) Ogg file(s) or not.

If the test conversion fails, please tell us whether you can play the Ogg file(s) in question and, if so, in what player and where they came from. If the file(s) cannot be played, they may be corrupt in some way.

If the test conversion works, please tell us what settings you are using for your mp3 files (bitrate or quality setting, channels, frequency). It is possible that these settings are at fault. One solution, if this is the case, is to convert to a different and more standard mp3 setting. Some conversions are possible but may require one or more intermediate conversions (such as Ogg to standard wave to mp3).

If you are changing the frequency of your Ogg files in the conversion process, you might want to enable Professional Frequency Conversion (this is set in dMC Configuration under the Options tab, I believe).

Please keep us posted on what you find and provide what details you can about your Ogg files (frequency, channels, bitrate/quality level), whether they will test convert, and the mp3 settings you are trying to use and confirming that both your Ogg and mp3 codecs are showing as installed in your dMC Configuration (you might also want to post your dMC Configuration, you can copy it to your clipboard and paste it into your reply).

    Best wishes,
    Bill
