converting aa files - best setting?

I am converting audible aa files to mp3 and was wondering which would be the best setting. When I put it on 'voice' it ends up in mono even though I set it to stereo. I find in this setting the sound is not great s sounds very hissy. So now I am trying 'normal' stereo and at 56kbps

Try a variable bit rate (not using one of the presets).

      Converting aa files

I've "transitioned" over 100 Audible files (*.aa) using the db converter which I happily purchased when I realized my early model Creative Zen player was never going to able to support the Audible format.

And the db converter will still work on files downloaded prior to about 45 days ago. However, it is not possible to convert any Audible (*.aa) material downloaded recently. Perhaps Audible changed their algorithm. In any event, am I the only or first user to report this issue?

This circumstance sucks as I enjoy using the Zen while mowing the lawn. It's true my iPod Nano will now do the same thing as the original MP3 device, but I paid for the Creative Zen, I paid for the Audible books and I paid for the db converter.

Before someone tells me to RTFM :smile2: , re-read the section where I state I've successfully converted over 100 files from AA to MP3 previously and the db converter will still 'transition' files downloaded prior to about 45 days ago.

Any support is appreciated... Thank You in advance!

Have you updated your Audible Manager recently?

Alas, I was recently forced to upgrade by Audible.

I suspected that might have been the challenge since by now Audible surely is aware the old protection succumbed to intelligent life forms on the planet.

The solution is to locate an older version of the Audible Manager and set it up on a separate computer with db converter.

          Thanks for the tip.
