    Auxiliary.exe not working?

    WinXP, Home, SP2.
A search here turned up a couple things that i checked but did not
    find a solution.

Condition: Using Auxiliary.exe to capture a WMA file (Ra/Rm gives same problem). Aux runs for about 3 seconds and closes.
Test Recording Level - volume gauge shows no movement.
Record - shows no movement and stops after a couple seconds.

    System settings:
In the Control Panel, Audio, Sound Recording = Default device = SB Audigy 2 ZS Audio [1100]
Volume is set to max and AnalogMix is selected.
    Under Advanced, nothing is checked.

    Auxiliary.exe settings:
    Under Options:
    Output to: E:\nm2
Auto Start = checked, VU Over 5% for 750ms
Auto End = checked, VU below 15% for 4000ms
Record using: SB Audigy 2 ZS Audio [1100]
Input source = Analog Mix (checked)
    Quality = 44.1, 16, stereo

    Under Power = nothing checked

    Re: Auxiliary.exe not working?

Uncheck auto start and auto stop. Use manual start and stop.

Is analog mix a recording control? Make sure it's not playback control.

You want to capture to wma or the audio from a wma file that is being played?

      Re: Auxiliary.exe not working?

      Hi Christina,

Ok, I'm on manual start & stop.

Analog mix is showing in the CP>Sound and Audio Devices>Audio>
Sound Recording> Default device = SB Audigy 2 ZS Audio [1100].
In the volume button there are 5 devices that can be selected (midi synth, linein2/mic2, Analog Mix, microphone and wave. Only 1 device can be selected (at a time) and i have Analog Mix checked.

Input is a wma file, output is wav.

Still no movement on the VU meter in the recording window. It did
put out a wav file (20k+ in size) but when i played it, i didnt hear
anything. I tried creative player, winamp, and dbplayer.

      Thanks for replying,
      savagcl

        Re: Auxiliary.exe not working?

        Conditions have changed.

I found the "WhatUHear" device and selected it.

        Settings:
        1. Recording Control: nothing selected except "WhatUHear".
        2. Play Control:
        Wave:
        MIDISynth:
        Auxiliary: Muted
        Line-In2/Mic2:
        S/PDIF-In: Muted
        CDDigital: Muted
        Auxiliary: Muted
        CDAudio:
        Line-IN:
        TAD-In: Muted
        Mic: Muted

NOTE: Somehow, MSN Music Assistant has got into my system,
I see it in the Control Panel (wasnt there before).

Now, when i do a test volume level and the "Optimum" setting is
just a little over half-way, i get noise through the speakers.
Enough noise that if i have a song playing, it is completely
        drowned out.

        ??????????????????
        I'm lost.
