mp3pro to mp3

My portable mp3 player (i assume) will play Mp3pro files at the lower quality. so.
Iwould like to convert my mp3pro files to mp3 at equivalent quality

1. what are the equivalent rates ftom mp3pro to mp3
2. will dMC automatically detect an Mp3pro track
3 how can I check I have the mp3Pro codec properly installed

1. I would guess 128Kbps
2. No, if you hold the mouse over a mp3 Pro file it might say encoded by mp3 pro.
3. Use your ears, convert a mp3pro file without installing any extras in dMC, then if you can get it to sound better (keep that file) you have installed the right stuff.
