    cd ?

I am using a older model hp 8200 cd-writer. I have found out after many ruined cd's that it will not burn high speed discs. I was using memorex 52x I got an error msg that I should use 2xor4x cd's. How do you determine that when you look for them. I have seen some sony cd-rw that states it supports multi speed 1x,2x and 4x.

I just viewed an old msg board that apparently many folks have had trouble with memorex. I did email them about some of there cd's that did not copy and they said "we don't want to lose you business, fill out an attached warranty form and we will replace them" Ha, Ha & Ha. :vmad:

    Thanks!!!

    Re: cd ?

Unfortunately, it is very hard to find CD-Rs that burn at that low of a speed. CD-RWs will burn that slow, but are not readable in many CD players.

You would be better off to buy a new CD burner. Here in the US, if you purchase one at the right place (a few online stores come to mind) you can get a 52x burner for less than $30-40. Of course, you will need to find someone or somewhere to install the new drive. If you want more help purchasing a new drive, PM me.

Thanks, I see that Wal-Mart has some reasonably priced ones.
