    dat file

    i downloaded a file which claimed to be an mp3 but it only appears as an 18mb dat file which i can play on winamp but can not convert or place on a portable mp3 player, can anyone explain this?

      You probably saved as a default in Windows and it gave it an mp3 extension. What is the file's extension on the website where you donwloaded it from?
