"MP3 files cannot contain tag information"

that is the message I get when I go to the right click "edit tag" option on an audio file.. mp3 or wav.. I know wav do not but mp3 ''come on''

I have the fully loaded sveta power pack, only downloaded last week...and Windows XP SP2

I want to be able to convert from a CD to my mass storage device in the form [artist]-[album]/[artist]-[track] and with dmc creating the tags from that format automatically.. but the only information in the tag edit of the sveta is title and artist... and in windows explorer "mp3 files cannot contain tag info"..??????

Re: "MP3 files cannot contain tag information"

yep ".MP3" exactly.... here is a link to a screen shot of the properties page of one .mp3 file...

I have succeeded in getting dmc to create the file in the directories as I like but the tags will not be created automatically..
and when I use the 'tag from filename' utility, windows closes dmc down...
      help please.

Can you post your dMC Configuration for us?
There's a button for doing this in dMC Configuration.

This is not a problem that I recall seeing posted.

        Best wishes,

Is it possible that this file is actually a compressed wav (mpeg layer-3) but that was renamed to the .mp3 extension?

No. Frequency is 44.1 kHz. !6 bit. 8:1 compression ratio all bespeak a standard mp3 although the file properties do indicate (on File of Type) that the file is "MP3 Format Sound" which does not strike me as standard, but I can't be sure of this.

Compressed wav, using mpeg-3 layer, and renamed as mp3 will show up the same way. But I still get the tag fields (emtpy but present) when looking at Properties > ID Tags

If saved with the .wav extension then I get the notice that .wav files have no ID tags and the file whows up a "wav format header", when it's saved as .mp3 it shows up as "mp3 format sound" .

The whole thing is screwey. Maybe the file comes form some odd converter program which really messes up file headers.

The MIME types may be messed up.

                      Hi there
below here is the config as requested....
Also to remove the possibility that the files maybe a renamed .wav files, I ripped some fresh files.. thru dmc to mp3.

here is the link to a new screen shot for one of the new files.. the same comment and same issue exists..

Re: "MP3 files cannot contain tag information"

About the only difference I see with my own installation is in the mp3 ID Tags. I have:

                        Mp3
                        Tag Creation: Smart Ape2 & ID3v1
                        Write ID3v1 Version: v1.1
                        ID3v1 UTF8 Read: Yes
                        ID3v1 UTF8 Write: Yes
                        Write ID3v2 Unicode: No
                        Write ID3v2 Version: v2.3
Can't imagine it would make that much difference, but you never know.

I'm not even sure why I have this configuration, may have been from playing around with the ID tags at various times.

Try reinstalling the latest R11.5 from this site, sounds like a corrupt install.
