    Bitrate 320 to 192 question

Have some music recorded at a bitrate of 320. Not sure if my mp3 player
(in auto) will play this bitrate. So before i waste a cd, If i reduce the
    bitrate to 192 (using 320 > wav > 192) will i lose anthing???

    thanks,

    1 more question.

I see in the file description this: Channels 2 [Joint-side (Mid Side)]

What is "Mid Side" and will the conversion to 192 be effected by it?

    thanks,
    savagcl

You will lose some audio quality by converting, but most probably nothing you'll really notice.

Joint stereo saves extra space by recognizing when left and right channels are identical and only saving it as mono, and when they are not identical then saving the information that makes them different. You won't notice a difference in audio quality between full stereo and joint stereo. Not sure about the mid-side designation part.

Converting from 320kbps to 192kbps mp3 would result in quality loss, yes.

Will you notice any real audible difference? ...doubtful.

No real reason to convert to .WAV first, just go straight from 320kbps>192kbps

Just remember that people have different levels where they believe music is transparent.
