Im ripping cds that Ive previously burned onto my new hard drive.

      The settings Im using are converting mp3 to mp3, VBR, 160 - 256, Joint-Stereo, 44100 Frequency.

        First, why are you converting mp3 to mp3? Are your pre-existing mp3s high-bitrate mp3?

Also, what processor does your computer have and what is the rotation speed of the hard drive, if you know it? Normally, HDD rotation is 7200RPM, 5400RPM, or 4200RPM.

Well scratch that, Im not converting mp3 to mp3, im just ripping the cds to my hard drive.

Pentium 4 2.00GHz Processor. I dont know the HDD rotation.

I just ripped a cd and it took a good 15mins, and that was on High Priority.

Try ripping to a CBR 160kbps mp3 and see what speed you get.
Also, CDs convert faster when the priority in the conversion window is set to "below normal". That is because a separate thread is spawned that rips the CD and the main "musicconverter" thread converts the rip. Raising musicconverter's priority means the CD ripping thread no longer receives the highest priority.

Also, do you have "Rip & Encode" and "rip to RAM" enabled in the PowerPack? Click the rocket icon on the Audio CD Input window to make sure these two options are enabled.

Enable Rip to ram. You don't have a lot though, and you pc is rather slow, so don't expect miracles.
How do you do this - enable "Rip to Ram" - I don't see that option anywhere. I'm using v 11.5.

UPDATE: never mind! I found the option - it was in the Power Pack.
