    Codec couldn'y be opened issue

I believe I have subscribed to and downloaded dBpowerAmp. However, when I try to convert MP3s to WMA files I keep getting 'the Codec required to compress xxxx could not be opened'.

Checking my Control Panel on my PC I can see that the dBpowerAmp file is downloaded (6 Mb) but whilsy Codec V9 and V9.1 are listed there is no file size against it which obviously indicates that the files are not downloaded properly.

    Can anybody help please?

There is no size indicated on my install of any of my dMC codecs. Your problem must lie elsewhere.

What Operating System are you using? Did the account you used to install the programs have Administrator rights? Are you running in an account that currently has Administrator rights?

Try running the dMC Configuration program and post the information displayed here.

The dMC Configuration program will show if you are running a registered version of dMC together with details of any codecs installed.

That error will not have anythign to do with having or not a registered copy of the program, as conversion FROM mp3 to wma is not covered by patent controls, only conversion TO mp3 needs a registered version.

However I think the problem may be that to use wma 9.1 you need WMP 10 - only available for Windows XP. If you don't have WMP 10 you cannot use wma 9.1, you can only use wma 9.

Actually, as long as you install the System WMA 9.5 Codecs that are included with the dMC WMA 9.1 codec, you can use the WMA 9.1 codec just fine without WMP 10.
