Some Please help me~~~

I really need some help. I been trying my best to rip the bible on my computer as mp3's. I wanted to try and do it with the audio program I got called dmc audio cd imput.
I can not get the tracks in there. I see the rip button and everything. but i can not get it to rip. I need help to use this program please.

Ok I been using something else in the mean time and trying my best to use DB power amp music converter to change the size of the file. The progrma i am using i can not figure out how to make it smaller. it keeps making th efiles 180kbs. that is way too large.
so here is my second question....
I went and downloaded the dbpoweramp converter however it is not the same one i see on the site. it is the old one i had on my computer.

the new one seems to have a bar you can move to change the bit rate. I do not have that. can some one please help me out here. I would truly appreciat it. :smile2:

Ok, you say you downloaded the current verison od dBpowerAMP Music Converter from here (or rather the Product tab across the top of the forum).

You installed it? You must be logged in as administrator for the installation. You must install to the same location (keep the one proposed by the installer program: c:\program files\Illustrate ).

You sat yiu have an old version on your computer. When you installed the enw version it would have asked you to uninstall the old version first. That is assuming you installed to the same locaiton. If the old version was instaleld somehwere else then you should uninstall it first and then install the new one to the default location.

So once you get the installation OK, the problem you may have is to tell dMC Audio CD Input which cd drive it has to use. Also you have to specify to what format you want to rip the cd tracks, and all the compression paramaters.

Another problem you may face is that in order to rip to the mp3 format you need to buy the registered version of dMC or to have an unexpired trial version. Since you already have an older version, you will not be given another chance to have a trial version, so you will not be able to rip to mp3. If your older version was in fact registered then you should install the new version on top of it to preserve registered status otherwise you have to buy it again.

I suggest you rip to wav for the time being. Normal, uncompressed wav. Yes, they are very big files. Bu they are exactly the same quality as the original audio cd tracks.

Once the tracks have been riped to wav you can decide what you want to convert them to. If you want mp3, then you have to have the registered version. Other formats are free, like wma.

So start by getting the old version uninstalled (unless it is registered) and the new one installed.

It did ask me to uninstall it and it did. I saw how to get ehe bar i selected something i forget what and i got the bar.

I think I figured it out.

My top drive which is my burner is not working and the seconddrive on the bottom is till working but the program is not noticing the drive. it seems to only notice the top drive. is there a way to change the drives on the audio program?
I think that would solve my problem.
ok well i will still mess with it till i figure it out i guess.

Yes, of course you can select the drive. From dMC Audio CD Input click the Options button at the top. In teh window that opens you have the cd drive with a drop down list. Select the correct one.

There are several other useful options there, so you should take a look at least to know where you can modify them should you need to.

In addition you may have to also click the Advanced button next to the cd drive and select teh cd communication. You do that if you need to - it may already be OK, but if it doesn't work, then you pick something else.

Another important button in dMC Audio Cd Inout is the little down arrow next to the Rip button. From there you can select Rip to > and then pick the format and subsequently the compression settings.

I have another problem I copied them and now i have no sound.
I am really confused. I thought the whole reason for me registering the software so that i have the codecs if i am saying it sorrectly.

I have no idea why I have nos sound and it rip everything so fast. something told me to check the sound and none of them played on wimamp at all no sound.

so this is my next problem..lol
so i have to download something else now. or is ther something else i suppose to so. thanks so much for your help Christina.

Well, check the files you you ripped. What format did you pick? Hover over one of them and see what it says: format, length, frequency, bits, channels, bitrate. Windows Explorer will tell you the physical size in bytes or KB.

Ripping is generally fast actually. It may take say 5-10 minutes for an entire cd, also depending on whether you used slow rip or fast rip. I prefer slow rip, usually 4x is good enough for me, no big rush.

I usually also rip to wav and after that I convert to compressed formats.

Make sure you are signed in as administrator - or you cannot rip. This may show an error or just result in faulty files, I don't know, I haven't attempted as a non-admin.

Instead of WInamp try Windows Media Player to play the files. I don't know why, but I don't trust non native programs as much. WMP is native to Windows and it should work for all formats it is capable of playing (you can select them in Tools somewhere).

Of course your Volume controls may be messed up as well for Playback. Go through them and see what is selected. Something may be muted there. Right click the Volume icon in the task bar and snoop aroudn there.

well i can on go into admin in safe mode... the only choices i have to go in are this one in regular mode or another acc't i made for a game.

I am not sure. i was trying not to have to do this twice was why i spent the money :lol

Well, you have to be signed into an account with administrator priviledges. The same when you installed the programs.

ok now get this.
the files play on windows media but not winamp.
now i am really confused here. they are mp3 files and not wma files.

I encoded with Lame3.96r
now i listen to it on music match and it sounded horrible.
so i guess maybe it was the way it copied it.
this si so much faster than EAC which i was using but the files are not coming out that great.
what do u suggest? :cry:

Ok I think i figure it out. i look on the faq on the site and \it told me to change both choices under bitrate to as source. so far so good!!!
now i can get busy. YEah!

oh i do have a question how do i slow it down. i rathe quality than speed. well i would a little of both actually.

Well, play with compression settings for quality. The lower the bitrate you compress to, the poorer thae quality.

If it's a cd quality you aim for, then 128kbps to 192kbps should be ok. Higher may be overkill and result in much bigger files accordingly. It depends on the audio quality you want.

Using joint stereo instead of 2-channel stereo also saves on space and keeps the same quality.

The ripping speed is adjusted from the Options button, under Drive options: Ripping speed and Slow ripping.

Winamp may need to be told of the file type to play in its own settings.

128 - 192 kbps = cd quality? I guess it's different for all... Still....
