Fraunhofer IIS Mp3 Encoder won't work.

Got dBpowerAMP Music Converter, dMc Audio CD Input and Powerpack with Fraunhofer IIS Mp3 Encoder.
(And some other codec's, including K-Lite Codec Pack Full.)
Each time I want to convert Wav to Mp3 with the Fraunhofer I have to locate the Mp3 Encoder.
But I can't locate the correct file.
In the Compression folder there is only a DLL and no EXE.



So I end up with: "Codec error".
I've downloaded the Encoder again but at no avail.
What am I doing wrong?

Its the wrong encoder. The .exe that is needed for that codec is no longer available as far as I know. Sorry

I don't know which fgh encoder it used.. either l3enc.exe, mp3enc.exe, or fastencc.exe (fastencc can be found on reallyrarewares) the other 2 are a little tougher to find....

that said, there isn't any point in using an fhg encoder, none support piping, and lame is better anyways... but if you really want to use an fhg encoder, you can set it up with the generic cli plugin (the fgh plugin you have is pretty much the same thing anyways, just with a custom options.txt)

Is there a particular reason you want to use the Fraunhofer encoder instead of LAME?

The mp3 encoder license you purchased is meant for the internal LAME encoder in dMC or any other mp3 encoder that can interface with dMC. The Fraunhofer IIS Encoder is only a CLI codec without the exe. See the note here: http://www.dbpoweramp.com/codec-central-franmp3.htm. The Fraunhofer CLI encoder is meant for when people still had access to that .exe or purchased a program that uses that exe and wanted to use it. Since then, most people agree LAME has surpassed Fraunhofer on most areas on mp3 encoding.

For my Quartz Audio Promise of Digital Sound Planet I bought the FhG mp3 Codec (they don't sell it anymore neither, tho).
My Cool Edit Pro 2 also works with the mp3PRO (FhG) Codec.
So, at the end of the day, I've been misunderstanding that dBpowerAMP gives the FhG-thing at registering.

You can encode to mp3PRO using dMC as long as you follow the instructions in Codec Central.
