Infotips disappeared for MP3 files only

I have searched but found no answer for this problem.

dbPowerAmp infotips are available for wav files but the ordinary windows infotips appear for MP3s. This is even after uninstall, reboot, reinstall, reboot.

I am using r11.5 and have tried r12 also with same result. I think something I installed has caused this behaviour.

Go and check dMC Configuration. Something must not be fully enabled there.

Somebody else had a similar problem after installing Adobe 2 or something like that.

OK I finally got around to tracking this down and thankfully have the excellent dBp infotip back! There was a registry entry that needed changing -

      [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\mp3file\ShellEx \{00021500-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}]
      (Default)="{FED7043D-346A-414D-ACD7-550D052499A7}"

It was set to use the AudioShell handler so I changed it to use the dBp handler and now it works as expected. I don't know why even with r13 this key wasn't set properly?

Running dBpoweramp Configuration should write that value after clicking ok.

Actually looking at it, we are writing it to:

          [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\.mp3\ShellEx \{00021500-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}]
          (Default)="{FED7043D-346A-414D-ACD7-550D052499A7}"

It could be mp3file is overriding the .mp3, I will note it to look at.
