    Various Artists CD

    I'm using this file creation scheme: [artist]\[year] - [album]\[artist] - [track]
    and I use this m3u file creation scheme: [artist]\[year] - [album]\[album]
And it is working nicely, even for various artists. The problem that I run into is when I need to make corrections to the track name or artist name of an individual track. Once I click on a track, the CD Artist field at the top changes from "Various Artists" to the artist of the individual track. How can I change the CD Artist back to "Various Artists" without changing any or all of the individual track artist listings? I like the way that it saves the mp3 files and m3u files, but I want the m3u playlist to get saved to the Various Artists folder when burning a various artists CD.

I assume you are making these corrections to track and/or artist names prior to ripping and while you are still in Audio CD Input.

Have you tried making the corrections to the tag after ripping but before setting up any m3u files? If so, does that work any better?

I am brainstorming here, so just try a few such files (if you haven't already) before trying this with a lot of tracks.

I'm sure any other input would be appreciated on this also.

    Best wishes,
    Bill

Select no tracks then edit the artist, but it will not make any difference (as individual artists are used).

How do I deselect all of the tracks? When I insert the CD, every track is checked. If I choose "Uncheck All", then changing the CD Artist either affects all of the tracks or a single track even if none are checked. I need to modify the data prior to ripping the tracks, otherwise I would need to go and modify the .mp3 files after ripping them. I just want the m3u file created in the Various Artists folder.

Thank you for your help in this matter.

It is not the tick boxes, but the highlight for the track title, click off the bottom to selct none.

I'm still unable to deselect all of the tracks. If I click off of the bottom, there is still either one track selected or all tracks are selected. Once I begin typing "Various Artists", it either changes all of the tracks to "Various Artists" or one of the tracks changes to "Various Artists". I'm using version 6.4.0.0 of CDGrab.exe. Is it possible that I need to use an older version or newer version? In this case, "selected" doesn't necessarily mean blue. When I click on the top, one track turns white with a gray box around it. Even though it is not blue, it is still selected because the information I type at the top affects the data for all of the tracks at the bottom. Is there a command I can use to deselect all of the tracks?

Don't type at the top of the screen, type alongside the track in the listing, in the proper column.

I need to be able to change the CD artist, which is at the top of the screen, from "various" to "Various Artists" without changing any of the individual track artists. I cannot figure out how to deselect all of the tracks so that I can modify the data at the top, without affecting any of the information at the bottom.

Sorry my mistake, selecting none will change all when typing an artist.
