Tag Converting

I wonder if anyone could tell me if it is possible to use dbpowerAMP to convert / re-label mp3 tags? I use dbpowerAMP to concert file formats, but I've never used it to re-label tags. (I know very little about dbpowerAMP and can only do basic file format conversions).

I have a number of poorly labeled mp3 files and was wondering if their is an easy way to re-label them.

With PowerPack...absolutely. PowerPack even adds Windoze Explorer extensions to be able to right-click on music files and modify the tag information.

Also there's a utility codec available on Codec Central that will create tags from filenames...pretty cool actually.

Thanks for your reply. I do have PowerPack (I think). I know I can modify tag information by using the righ-click option of my mouse.

Do you know if there are some instructions somewhere on this site on how to re-label tags using PowerPack and/or the codec utility? (I'll look around as well).

It sounds like I need the codec utility. I need something that will create tags from filenames and.or half tagged files.

This is easy enough to do:

1.) Select the file(s) you wish to edit tags for in Explorer.
2.) Right Click and select the Edit Tag option.
3.) In this window there is a simple dialog box for editing the tags. You can mass edit a lot of files into one album for example and into one genre.
4.) Hit Ok and the changes will be immeadiately applied to your files. Simple.

This should be detailed in the help files with dBPowerAMP as well, as far as I can remember anyway.

As for the Tag by Filename codec, just download it from Codec Central and install as you would any other codec. Then, when using the "Convert To" option in Explorer, you will be able to select "Tag from Filename" as one of your "codecs". There are on screen instructions and a help file on this too.
