    Converting to VBR

When trying to convert to VBR, I set the settings correctly, and then to make sure, I check back, and the settings are back on constant bitrate...

What am I doing wrong and how can I keep the setting on VBR.

    Thank you.

    Re: Converting to VBR

I assume you are talking about mp3 files.

For mp3, click on the Advanced button and where it shows presets, select No Preset. Then select VBR. When you click on OK and return to the the mp3 window where you select bit-rate, use the left mouse button to set the lower setting for your vbr range and use the right mouse button to set the upper level of your vbr setting.

Or, you can select a vbr preset (alt preset standard and alt preset extreme are vbr, alt preset insane is cbr). If you select one of these presets, you will not see a slider on the bit-rate bar.

If you have tried these steps, or if they do not work, please post back and tell us what version of dBpowerAMP Music Converter you are using and if you have Windows Blinds installed.

    Best wishes,
    Bill

Still no luck, I have the most recent version of the program... I had it awhile ago and evreything was fine, my settings were fine with vbr and all. Just got a new HD and reinstalled it, and the setting seems to keep going back to constant bitrate no matter what I do.

Are you logged in using an administrator account?

        Registered version of dMC ?

You can confirm your registration (or that you're trial version is still current) by checking dBpowerAMP Music Converter Configuration (Start>All Programs>dBpowerAMP Music Converter>Configuration>dBpowerAMP Music Converter Configuration).

If you are the primary user of this computer and always log in as such, then you it would be safe to assume that you are logged in with administrator priviledges.

What type of file are you trying to convert to mp3 vbr?
Does this happen with other types of files or not?
What frequency, channels, bitrate are you trying to (in mp3)?

Im trying to rip mp3's from cd's Ive burned because Im rebuilding my music on my new hard drive. This happens with all mp3's, even ones that are already on my pc. Im on a 48000 frequency, and Joint Stereo.

The option just seems to be stuck on constant bitrate no matter what I do. Im trying to get VBR.

Why are you using 48KHz? CDs are recorded to 44.1KHz and resampling a file is always a lossy conversion.

Just to double-check, you have your Preset to "No preset" correct?

Hang on, are you trying to convert to VBR, and then when you re-open dMC to do another conversion, have it defaulted on VBR again?

Im trying to convert to VBR and when I set it to VBR and hit OK, for some reason, it goes right back to constant bitrate like I never changed anything.

Again, did you make sure that your Preset is set to "No Preset"?

I have windowblinds, and I made that change to the setting, and db still wont stay at VBR when I check it in the settings. Any more suggestions?
