      Re: Help

I am talking about LIVE Tech help.
The program will not work on my XP and in this forum nobody seems to know how or why.

        Re: Help

There is no live tech help.
Spoon is responsible for the Illustrate programs. He is responsible for nearly all the programming and he is pretty much the paid staff. He also handles a good bit of the problem-solving and technical support. Last I knew for sure (and this goes back a bit so it might no longer be accurate) this was not his day job.

Those of us who help out on the forums are volunteeers. We have no hours, get no pay, we have no manuals.

Within these constraints, I would like to think we are pretty successful but obviously we are not always successful.

Sometimes, the lack of formal organization can be a handicap and sometimes it can be a good thing. Where it is not always helpful is in a situation where a thread gets tangled in what turn out to be side issues and there is not good way to get a good handle on it. I think this is what happened with your earlier thread. I do not mean to imply in any way that this situation is your fault.

If you want to pick that thread back up I am going to go back to your post to post a re-starting point to your earlier problem, if you are interested. I will post first thing in the morning EST (I want to pick over a few things in my own mind). If others want to take a shot at this, they are more than welcome to.

Please also keep in mind that this lack of organization is not really our fault either. It is just the way things are. It can be confusing and frustrating and at other times interesting and enlightening. If I find myself feeling down, I sometimes will liken the Forum to a commune (yes, I was a child of the 60's) without the sex, drugs, or macrobiotic cooking.

        Best wishes,
        Bill

          Re: Help

It can take some time to figure out what the problem is and why its happening. Sometimes its a bug, sometimes its doing something wrong, sometimes its just a misunderstanding.
