Losing last few seconds of track .mp3 -> .spx

Once in a while, when converting Mp3s to Speex (.spx) I lose the last few seconds of the track. However, I have found that if I encode the files from Mp3 to Wave and then to Speex the problem goes away.

That is all well and good, but when I have a batch of 100 files to convert for instance, disk space will become tight because of the large size of the Wave files. Yes I can do them in smaller batches, but it is not the most convenient.

Any thoughts?

You could run any dsp effect and the file will be rendered to a wave file on conversion then converted.

Thanks for the reply. I tried what you suggested. I added a "Maximum Length" DSP effect and set it for 100 minutes to make sure it wouldn't crop the file - the source was MUCH shorter.

It did not crop the last couple seconds of audible sound like before, but it did crop the 4 or so seconds of silence at the end of the track. This is a different result than when I converted the Mp3 to a Wave and then to a Speex file in two seperate steps. In that case it preserved the silence as well.

Odd, but hey, it seems to be doing what I want.

BTW: I was talking to a buddy who also uses dMC, and he said he has the same occasional "cropping issue" when he converts Audible files to Mp3. I'll tell him about the workaround.
