Hello

I have a collection of 300+ cds that I wish to rip to play through a Naim streamer. My Acer pc doesn't have a cd drive, can anyone suggest the best drive I can get to use via USB on my pc

Buy two cheap USB drives, of different manufacturers, that gives the best chance of ripping error free.

The beauty of dbpa and AccurateRip is that almost any old cheap drive is all one needs.

and Spoon mentions having two because sometimes a CD that won't rip error free on one drive will rip just fine on another drive. I have 3 cheap drives. 99% of my CDs rip just fine on my main drive. But a few don't and I simply try with one of the other two, and I'm typically successful. Also note that although many drives report that they use C2 error detection, many do not use C2 properly. In 2 of my 3 drives, I have to turn off C2 Error pointers in my ripper setup. And this is just fine, as again, AccurateRip is the key.

I got a cd drive Matshita dvd-ram UJ870PC J, i've ripped 5 cds, wheen the drive saw enough ripe I'm not sire hoe to read if there are any errors in the rip. The rip status column usually shows the number 3 or 4 or 5 or 6 in brackets, but for one cd the number is 157 or 158. Do i need to rip this one again? It plays ok

must be a popular CD. This is good. Higher numbers mean more AccurateRip matches. These cap out for reporting purposes at 200.

well the popular cd is The Who Live at Leeds, I've been listening to it for 50 years. The less popular are blues, like John Lee Hooker. Is it possible to read how many errors there on each rip?

What makes you think it has errors. If it has Accuraterip match, even 1 assuming you have not previously ripped it, that is perfect. Check the ripping settings and select the full logging so a rip log is written.
