Tom, this should be an example to others that one should always look for the easy way out when faced with this type of problem. Sometimes you won't find one but for instance:
dBpa finds no (or the wrong) artwork?: You can spend an hour searching the Internet for the artwork, or you can simply scan the CD insert in under a minute. Done!
Damaged CD, error ripping? Tons of rerips?: Do as you did, look on line, eBay, etc. Buy a used copy, usually for very little. Still no luck, consider finding it on line, YouTube, etc, and capture the playback. Done!
Playing YouTube, Pandora, etc. copies is also a potential way to identify the titles of unidentified tracks. I've done that. Finding the CD on Amazon with a track list can help you also.
