CD Ripper won't stay open (or reopen)

Just purchased and installed dBpoweramp.

When I run the "control Center" to rip a CD, I click (cleverly) on the CD Ripper selection. This opens CD Ripper and I proceed to the rip.

When the rip is finished the Ripper program exits and I return to the Control Center. (I'm not sure why it closes. Unusual behaviour. Have I made some setting for this?)

Subsequently I cannot reopen the CD Ripper app. It simply blinks but doesn't reopen the app.

Advice?

We would guess something on your system is stopping it running. Using Windows? restart your computer in safe mode with networking, does that help?:

Yes, indeed, in safe mode the program worked as expected. However, rebooting back to a normal complete boot, the problem remains as I've described previously.

Another thing I noted is that if I try to run the ripper program separately (CDGrab.exe) then it fails too, but this time an error message "Windows cannot access the specified device, path or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item." This complaint persists even if I run the program in Admin mode.

I note also that the problem exists if I shut down the Control Center, and restart it, the Ripper app will not open. It simply blinks at me. There is no error message with this.

I guess I need a log file to see what is going on... But that is beyond me so far.

Something external to CD ripper is stopping the program from running, most likely your security software, running in safe mode ensures nothing like that is running.

Ah...
This appears to have been the case. I run CiscoAMP for malware/antivirus and did turn off the services it controls, and subsequently was able to have the IT guys add it to the whitelist that the service uses.
Now, fingers crossed, the program seems to be running properly.
I guess I should give it a bit longer to firmly declare the problem solved but I'm confident!
