Apple Music AirPlay playback problems with Apple Lossless files from CD Ripper

    Hi,

I’m a newbie who’s recently invested in dBpoweramp and PerfectTUNES.

I used PerfectTUNES AccurateRip to check the accuracy of the existing Apple Music library of (mainly) Apple Lossless files on my iMac. I then used dBpoweramp CD Ripper to re-rip any suspect files or complete discs to Apple Lossless and imported them into Apple Music to replace the deleted originals. Almost all were successfully ripped to AccurateRip standard.

I play most of my music from Apple Music to a Denon AV receiver via AirPlay. However, I’ve noticed that the new files produced by CD Ripper won’t play on the Denon when selecting the AV receiver in the drop-down menu that appears when you click on the AirPlay icon in Apple Music. If I have an album with 9 ‘original’ tracks and a 10th that was re-ripped, only the 10th track won’t play!

Perversely, the new files will play fine when I select the Denon from the Output drop-down menu that appears when you click on the Sound (speaker) icon in the top righthand corner of the screen.

I have subsequently ripped a few new CDs using Apple Music and they trigger AirPlay correctly from within Apple Music.

Grateful for any thoughts on what might be causing this. Let me know if you need any more info.

Try updating your denon to the latest version, if still no go try removing the embedded album art inside the audio track (through our tag editor).

It is very unlikely to be our Apple Lossless encoder as it is using Apples own official code.

Thanks for your suggestions. The Denon AV receiver already had the latest firmware and, unfortunately, removing the embedded album art doesn't seem to have made any difference. I used your tag editor to remove the album art from the audio track as suggested, but the album art is still showing against the file when viewed in Finder (but no longer in Apple Music) - is this normal?

I have two Denon CEOL mini systems and the files ripped using CD Ripper play fine to these when selected using the AirPlay icon in Apple Music. If I select all 3 Denon devices together and play one of these CD Ripper produced files, the 2 CEOLs work fine but the AV receiver gives out a little electronic crackle through the speakers and then says Connecting... Please Wait... before timing out and disconnecting. All 3 units work fine with files ripped using Apple Music. All a bit strange!

You are probably best using FLAC in this instance.
