M1 mac looking for disc

I just installed dbpoweramp 17.4 on a macbook air m1. I am using an external cd drive. Apple music sees the disk but the cd ripper just says looking for disc. This is my first experience with dbpoweramp. I am assuming I am missing something.

macOS Catalina (or newer) introduces per program security access settings, normally OS X will ask when the program tries to access something if it should be granted permission. This security setting can also be set at a later date, click the Apple menu icon: System Preferences >> Security & Privacy >>
